SeemaSeema Khurram did her M.A in International Relations from the University of Karachi in 2003. She serves as the Executive Director of Sustainable Initiatives. She has been associated with the development sector for the last ten years specializing in social research and surveys. With work experience in renowned organizations like Action aid, WWF-Pakistan, Nielsen (Pvt.) Limited and Entrepreneurship and Community Development Institute (ECDI) her special interest is in community development, training, and poverty alleviation issues. She has experience in organizational and individual capacity building and develops, customizes and delivers trainings on various developmental aspects. She was part of USAID’s 2009 Inception Mission on Empowering Entrepreneurs of Pakistan and assisted in sub-sector analysis of water purification and solar technologies in Pakistan. Only recently, she worked with the Water and Sanitation Programme of the World Bank to build the capacity of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) to undertake large scale surveys. She also supervised a consumer survey of 50,000 plus households in Gulberg Town of Karachi

FarhanFarhan Anwar did his Bachelors in Civil Engineering and Masters in Urban and Regional Planning. He serves as the Technical Director of Sustainable Initiatives. His portfolio includes urban sustainability planning and public policy, climate adaptation, urban resilience, institutional strengthening and change management. He has extended consulting services to the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA), the World Conservation Union (IUCN), WWF Pakistan and several prominent Pakistani consulting firms. Anwar is a Member, IUCN Commission on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy (CEESP) and the Standing Committee on Environment – Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI). He presently also serves as a Visiting Faculty at the Indus Valley School of Arts & Architecture, Karachi, where he teaches a Bachelors Course to fourth year architecture students on Urban Sustainability Theories and Practices. Anwar is the Lead Author of the ‘Sanitation Strategy’, Government of Sindh and the Author of Pakistan’s ‘National Strategy and Action Plan’ for the ‘Mangroves of the Future’ Regional Program. He has a number of publications to his credit and contributes a weekly column – Elasti-cities focused on urban planning, environment, and development issues of Karachi City in the Express Tribune Newspaper.
